Star Wars Outlaws (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Playthrough - Part 36) Keep Your Friends Close...
Check out part 36 of my Xclusive Playthrough series featuring the game Star Wars Outlaws! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series families of consoles on August 30th, 2024. It was developed by Massive Entertainment & published by Ubisoft.
In this video, Kay Vess heads to the old ship wreck to retrieve the nav computer for The Trailblazer.
Star Wars Outlaws is an open world action-adventure game which is set in the Star Wars universe between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The player takes control of a young, female scoundrel named Kay Vess who assembles a team for a massive heist in an effort to pay off a crime syndicate after they put a bounty on her head. In the opening cinematic of the game, there is a meeting between the leaders of four (4) of the crime syndicates that exist within this universe: Zerek Besh, Crimson Dawn, the Hutt Cartel and the Pyke Syndicate. The leader of Zerek Besh crime syndicate (Sliro Barsha) proceeds to murder the three (3) other leaders that joined him during this meeting in an effort to show off and consolidate his power. Meanwhile, Kay Vess seeks a way to escape her boring and penniless life and start anew while taking on bigger and more dangerous jobs. Kay takes up a job with a crew led by Dennion, who hatches a plan to break into Sliro's vault and steal his fortune. Unfortunately for Kay, Dennion's crew reveal themselves to be a part of the Rebel Alliance with their primary goal being to free their team leader named Asara (who was being held prisoner by Sliro). Kay is essentially backstabbed by Dennion along with his crew & finds herself without payment while also having to escape from Sliro's headquarters on her own. Believing that Kay was solely responsible for the break-in, Sliro puts a large bounty (and death mark) on Kay's head which forces her to go on the run while attempting to somehow get the bounty off her head.
The gameplay in this game is very similar to other Ubisoft open-world games that sees the player complete various activities throughout the world. The player controls Kay Vess in a third-person perspective & can explore the various planets & areas of space at their leisure after a short tutorial/intro section. For combat purposes, Kay Vess owns a blaster that can be upgraded along with her pet Nix (who's abilities can also be upgraded) that Kay can use to either scan the environment, interact with objects and even distract or attack enemies. Kay also has access to the Adrenaline ability, which allows her to slow down time & mark targets for shoot out a rapid series of shots (this mechanic is very similar to the Dead Eye mechanic in Red Dead Redemption). Kay can traverse the world using her speeder bike & travel between planets using her starship called Trailblazer. She can also use her electronic hacking device to open locked doors & containers while using her grappling hook to overcome various obstacles within the environment.
Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: Star Wars Outlaws includes a total of 49 achievements for a total of 1000 GS. The list of achievements is very similar to other open world Ubisoft games where most of the achievements are related to side activities, combat, exploration, collectibles & the crime syndicates within the game. Only 10 of the achievements are story-related while the rest fall into the other categories. As with most open world games, none of the achievements are missable as, after the credits, the game throws you back into the open world where you can explore & complete anything you may have missed. That being said, this is a fairly long completion that will take you anywhere from 25 to 40 hours to complete.
