Steps to Reset Cisco Switch Password:
Physical Access: Ensure you have physical access to the Cisco switch. If the switch is located in a remote location, make arrangements to access it directly.
Console Connection: Connect your computer to the Cisco switch using a console cable. You will need a terminal emulation software such as PuTTY (Windows) or Terminal (macOS) to establish a connection.
Power Cycle the Switch: If the switch is already powered on, power cycle it by unplugging the power cable and then plugging it back in. During the boot process, press the "Break" key on your keyboard to interrupt the boot sequence.
Enter ROMMON Mode: You will now be in ROM Monitor (ROMMON) mode. This is a low-level mode that allows you to perform various administrative tasks, including password recovery.
Change Configuration Register: In ROMMON mode, enter the command "confreg 0x2142" and press Enter. This command changes the configuration register, which tells the switch to ignore the startup configuration during the boot process.

Copy Startup Configuration to Running Configuration: Enter the command "copy startup-config running-config" and press Enter. This copies the startup configuration to the running configuration.
Change the Password: Now you can change the password. Enter the command "configure terminal" and press Enter. Then, type "enable secret NEW_PASSWORD" (replace NEW_PASSWORD with your desired password) and press Enter to set the new password for privileged EXEC mode.
Save the Configuration: After changing the password, save the configuration by entering "write memory" or "copy running-config startup-config" and press Enter.
Change Configuration Register Back: To ensure the switch loads the correct configuration on the next boot, change the configuration register back to its original value. In privileged EXEC mode, enter "configure terminal" and press Enter. Then, type "config-register 0x2102" and press Enter.
Reload the Switch: One final step! Type "reload" and press Enter to reload the switch with the restored configuration.
