Operation Ten-Gō - April 6th, 1945 | World at War Pt. 7 | (Realism Mod)
April 6th, 1945 - Five months after the end of the Battle of Peleliu, the US has assembled the largest invasion fleet in history. Their objective: take Okinawa. An island of the Ryukyu chain, Okinawa is considered Japanese soil, and its defenders resolve to make the Americans pay for every inch of it in blood. Their first move - Operation Ten-Gō massive all or nothing suicide attack aimed at destroying as much of the invasion force as possible before it can even make landfall. In the midst of this assault, VPB-54, a squadron of PBY Catalina flying boats, enter the fray in an effort to save as many sailors from the water as they can.
Well, that took way too long to finish. I'm sorry guys, there is no good reason this mission should have taken this long to record and upload, but I've been insanely busy IRL. Going through some shake ups at my job and I've had a lot on my plate. I can't promise my upload schedule will get anymore consistent, but I'll do the best I can. For now though, at least I got this part out of the way. After this, it's off to the Eastern Front for most of the rest of the playthrough.
Continuing to use FeReise's series of historical accuracy mods. I'm not sure this one actually changes all that much to be honest. I think the only change on this mission is the removal of the inaccurate April 3rd date, the rest should be more or less vanilla. Even the KP sound mod changes absolutely nothing on this mission, aside from adding extremely annoying whizzing sound effects to the PBY's machine guns, which, for outgoing fire, doesn't make much sense. Those whizzes actually overpower the vanilla sound of the gunfire itself, so, for this mission, I just shut the sound mod off. No HUD as always, however, I kept the music on, because how could I not? The Black Cats music is iconic! It needs no replacing and should never be silenced. So yeah, this mission is as close to vanilla as this playthrough gets. Not such a bad thing though, Black Cats is one of my favorite missions in the game and I know a lot of people who've played World at War share that sentiment with me. Hopefully you guys enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed recording it! And sorry again for the wait!
