April 18th, 1945 - Over two years have passed since the Soviets turned the tide at Stalingrad, and now the Red Army is threatening Berlin itself. German forces are making a last ditch effort to halt the Russian advance at the Seelow Heights, less than 100km from the Reich's capital. The Third Shock Army has been given the task of crushing this last line of defense to clear the way to Berlin. Among them, one Sgt. Viktor Reznov, having survived the entire march from the Volga to the Oder and beyond (somehow without ever getting a single promotion), and deadly eager to get his revenge on the Germans (and presumably, a promotion along with it).

Annnnd we're back to the Eastern Front, where we'll remain for most of the rest of the playthrough. This mission was a bitch to record, no way around it. The grenade spam is real. Don't play World at War without a HUD kids. The things I do for a cinematic experience... really though, all things considered, it's kind of crazy I got this finished as quick as I did. I just recorded and uploaded Black Cats two days ago, and now I'm already putting up another part! I doubt I'll be able to keep this pace, but progress is progress and I'm glad to be making it for the time being. Also interestingly enough, getting this uploaded exactly 79 years to the day from the date the mission takes place!

As with every video in this playthrough, I'm using FeReise's series of historical accuracy mods. Unlike the last mission, tons of changes are on display here. This mod really shines on the Soviet missions. For this particular mission, we're using the Fall of Berlin submod, which, among many changes, retextures many of the weapons and vehicles for greater historical accuracy, alters weapon spawnrates and frequency to better reflect the real weapons used, fixes inaccurate dates in the intro text, adds many new uniforms and character models for both the Red Army and Germans to better represent the various units that actually took part in these battles - particularly for the Germans, we've got foreign SS divisions, Luftwaffe infantry, Fallschirmjagers, Volkssturm, you name it. The gang's all here... For a comprehensive list of everything this mod does, I highly recommend either visiting the ModDB page or watching Frosty's video, both of which are linked below. Can't recommend it enough. Also using the KP sound mod, which greatly improves weapon sound effects. Finally, I've shut off the HUD. I left the music on for the first third of the mission (I love Reznov's evil war crime horror music), but shut it off at about the 1/3rd mark once the first song ends, to just let the sounds of battle play out. Towards the very end while the German encampment is being overrun, I added a little Red Army Choir music, because why not? Enjoy!

Once again, no link as I'm not sure where this mod can safely be downloaded, if it can still be safely downloaded. Google it if you're interested, and as always, be wary of what you're downloading and where you're downloading it from.
