Satopanth means the path of truth. The word is derived into two words, one is Sato - truth and the another was panth means path. A trek route to connect Indian Mythology. Satopanth Tal or Lake Trek is a paradise route of every trekkers. As per Indian Mythology lots of mythological story is connected to satopanth Tal trek route. It is believed that Three Devas or Tridev (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) are mediated on the corners of the lake also they take holy bath in satopanth lake during Ekadashi.
As Per Hindu Puran Mahabharat the Pancha Pandavs follow the same route (Swarga obhijan) to reach the heaven. All the Pandavs and Panchali (Draupadi) are decease in this route except Yudhisthir. Dorpodi or Panchali decease in Mana Village (Mata Murti Temple). Nakul and Sahadeva decease in near Laxmivan, Arjun decease in Chakratirth and Bhima decease in Satopanth Tal.
Some People believe that Goddess Laxmi and her husband Naryan are staying in Laxmivan and Chakratirth. Once a Narayan Kept his Chakra on the valley and Due to the sudarshan chakra's wait the circular valley created which name is Chakratirth.
Also some types of birds are found here, which pick up the pollutants of the lake and thus keep the lake clean. These birds are not found anywhere. The local belief is that they are the Gandharvas disguised, who guard the lake against evils.
Uttarakhand having so many popular trek route including this one. Satopanth located in extreme north east end of Uttarakhand state of India. Just 24 Km away from Indo Tibet Border. Satopanth Tal trek as consider to moderate trek route. Approx 60% of the trek route in boulder Zone.
Trek Itinerary
Haridwar (1,030 ft) to Joshimath ( 6150 ft) - 274.7 km 12-14 hrs By Road
DAY 1: Joshimath to Badrinath(10,170 ft) then Badrinath to Mana village (10,500 ft) By Car (5Kms) and Mana village to Laxmi Van (11650 ft) by trek (8kms, 5-6 hrs)
DAY 2: Laxmi Van to Chakratirth (14,400 ft) (10kms, 8 hrs)
DAY 3: Chakratirth to Satopanth Tal (15,100 ft) and Return back to Chakratirth(12kms, 9-10 Hours )
DAY 4: Chakratirth to Laxmi Van (one can take in another night in Chakratirth) (10kms, 5 hrs)
DAY 5: Laxmi Van to Mana village by Trek and Mana Village to badrinath (By car)
Nearest village: Mana (about 18 km)
Nearest rail head: Rishikesh
Nearest airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun
