Hi Family, I was saddened to hear about the loss of servicemen that this country incurred yesterday. I thought about a quote from John Fogerty when asked about his song “Fortunate Son” -
“It's the old saying about rich men making war and poor men having to fight them."
I’ve tried to find the names of these 13 servicemen, but I couldn’t find them. If you know them or know their names, please post in the comments. We cannot know if they came from humble or 'poor' beginnings, but we do know that they were rich in spirit and fought to spread freedom to a country in chains.
We also know that they represented love, we saw them being handed infants - over barbed wire fences - by mothers hoping for a better life for their child. We absolutely KNOW that they stood for the American ideals that bring immigrants like me to this land.
We hope and pray that their lives act as a reminder to those in leadership. A reminder that those servicemen, those heroes had names, had lives and are far from average, far from 'poor' to their friends and family, and to us - The People! We should all be so fortunate, so grateful to have them stand for this flag! 🇺🇸
Please take a moment and remember the fallen. I’m dedicating this rendition to them and their loved ones. I love you all 💛
