Happy Maiy Day my family! When I thought about a storyline for this animation piece, I wondered what it takes for a person to reach their comfort zone in life, their “Place Called Home.”
This is the journey of Bee Maiy. A bee who left the hive to find her special space. Bee travelled far and wide, only to find that her home, her heart, her inspiration - was always close and near.
I read an article the other day that stated ‘most people live no further than 23 miles from where they grew up’. It seems the familiarity of what we know & love is addictive.
In my case, living far from home hasn’t stopped me from embracing my childhood and bringing it into my music and art. The HIVE is a STATE OF MIND! 😉
I began my career a decade ago, experimenting with different genres of music, only to come back to the music I grew up on - my ‘place called home’. You hear the country, the rock, the blues, and YES - you hear the gospel! (It’s an Elvis thing, ya’ll!)
There are a few other perspectives on this song that I will discuss in the days to come.
