For this presentation I'm measuring the energy of my coffee maker... My family loves coffee! Lets plan how much energy we need should the mains power be interrupted... My Coffee maker stays on for about 7 hours every day... The warmer uses between .7 ~ .8 Watts... While making coffee this unit consumes .13 KWH... We make some days 3 pots... .13 X 3 = .39 KWH + 7.5 Watts X 7 Hrs = .525 KWH = .915 KWH... With mains power we spend about 15 cents per day for the coffee pot... I always round up when I'm figuring autonomous power usage so I plan 1 KWH Per Day Just To Drink Coffee... 9 Days X 1 KWH = 9 KWH for reserve power... Lead Acid Batteries DOD is 50% Usage Factor VS Lithium Ion 100%... You do the math! + Understand that this is a 5 year life project and batteries and solar panels degrade 1~2 percent a year... That's the reason I'm looking at a system that will deliver 3,240 KWH over a period of 9 days... The investment in the inverter is nothing... It's all about batteries and battery management and the ability to recharge the battery system... 15 KW / 48 Volts = 312.5 Amps * 216 Hours = 67,500 Amp Hours or 67.5 KAH * 48 Volts = 3,240 KWH usage over 9 days or 360 KWH Per Day... Seems unreal doesn't it? But that's the potential to plan for with out interruption! Infrastructure my friends! Makes Mains Power very affordable except when the grid goes down! Mains Power makes coffee and keeps it warm for less than 30 cents per day when Its working! So Why am I doing this project? Is there a real return on investment? Will the system pay for itself over time? Stay Tuned!
