ep 8! Also: 0:00 - 4:05 skip this.
Heck watch the playlist out of order too, I'm just happy if I get to share the coolest parts.

4:05 - 21:18 Kim reveals the mortal danger the Hardie Boys pose to us and I immediately chat with Lena yayyy hi Lena hi

First time in the game testing how a promise to Kim works in gameplay (glad I tested it about bugs and not Measurehead)

21:18 - 40:19 Discovering the cool secret hideout, but no way into the Harbor

40:19 - 54:02 The Ledger tells us more about Harry, and Kim tells us we work with real monstrous people

54:02 - 1:17:31 Talking to Sylvie & Doctor. Hey, if Union guys were harassing her, isn't the part later where they say "grabbed one of OUR girls" suspect? Re-assess the "our", Union guys.

1:17:31 - 1:53:53 Talking to ALL Lorry Drivers, wondering if it's time to suck up to Measurehead .

It's extremely cute that Kim took personally took the sunglasses off Harry lol

1:55:40 - 2:19:09 Hardie Boys interrogation. I completely lose the will to arrest them because the only thing they've done "wrong" is get rid of a rapist.

2:19:09 - 2:28:43 FEET

Gonna start putting extra thoughts at the bottom but I've often thought that police and ANY powerful public servants should accept laying down their lives for the position. And... I don't know if it shows on my face during this episode or if this thought baked to completion afterwards, but it took my 16th hour of Disco Elysium for it to sink in how ✨staggeringly simplistic✨ that worldview is.

It's a rare kind of person that can calmly risk their life for a job. And, what, I thought it was logical to have an entire government of people like that?

The title means, simply, that after playing as Harry du Bois I finally had the thought: "Hey police are sometimes in scary situations with stronger people." They still shouldn't protect murderers in their ranks, they shouldn't be nearly this armed, they're often called for jobs that do not require guns, etc etc etc.

But as necessary as it is to tell the entirety of law enforcement to suck up the fear, this has made me realize THAT is a completely impractical worldview to foist onto people who have literally been trained to fear.

First this type of training must be eliminated completely:    • The Police Trainer Who Teaches Cops to Kil...

My thought now is that officers ought to be as armed as psych ward nurses which... Is still flawed but more survivable?

In words a neutral reader can understand, it's simply unacceptable that just because a serial killer is a cop's coworker, they can and DO protect 'em.

Well. This line of questioning doesn't lead to any clear-cut solutions from me, but Disco Elysium once again proves extremely powerful by forcing me to inspect the world around me.
