Quick lazy animatic I put together to get this concept out of my mind
I saw it get brought up on Instagram about what happened to the elders who stayed behind when the clans left for the lake (Speckletail, Frostfur, Loudbelly, and Shadepelt) and it made me think of this depressing concept that seemed kind of like a scene they’d put in the books but have to delete because it’s so brutal 😂😂 Id love If they did make a Novella for What happened to these guys
Concept:
The elders stay behind when the cats leave for the lake, knowing they won’t make the journey and choosing to die in a familiar place. They find shelter under a fallen tree. They can’t hunt for themselves and water supply is low, so they slowly start to die off. By the time the first cat died (Frostfur), the rest of them were too weak to bury her.
In the end Speckletail is the last cat left alive. She knows she’s going to die soon and watches in devastation as her home is destroyed. She’s thankful to the cats who stuck by her side as long as they could, and so she devotes the rest of her life to digging a grave for them all, even though she is weak and on death’s doorstep.
In the end, she digs a large hole but collapses from exhaustion and dies in the grave she made.
