POV: Excavating a HS2 tunnel portal in Birmingham
Behind the scenes at our Washwood Heath portal.
The 22-metre portal is the deepest of four tunnel portals on the Midlands section of the route. The first of two tunnelling machines building the tunnel from Water Orton will break through the portal wall later this year.
