One of the ways in which I connect with my son, John Henry, who has autism and is non-speaking, is through music.
John Henry began making up his own melodies several years ago, and I’ve taken a few of the ones that seem to be his favorites and have made songs out of them. When I play him the compositions we’ve created together, he completely lights up and so do I. I love being able to help him bring his talents into focus.
Music is a language, and it’s the language of love.
