I spend most of my days treating patients with acne scars, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Although acne scars can be challenging to treat, the results are incredibly rewarding. For this patient we built a customized acne scar treatment which consisted of the following:
TCA Cross: This method involves applying Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) to specific areas, stimulating collagen production. This process helps scar tissue gradually fade, revealing smoother skin.
Subcision: This technique breaks the fibrous tissue bands tethering the scar to the underlying tissue, allowing the skin to rise and smooth out.
CO2 + Erbium Laser: These lasers resurface the skin's top layers, encouraging the growth of fresh, healthy cells while minimizing imperfections and scars. The CO2 laser penetrates deeper to address more stubborn acne scars, while the Erbium laser provides gentle yet effective results.
Collagen Repair Complex: Utilizing the micro-channels created by the laser, this treatment enhances the deeper penetration and effective dispersion of the collagen’s active ingredients, expediting your body's natural collagen production.
Understanding the different types of acne scars is crucial when determining which treatment will be best for you. Here are the main types:
1. Ice Pick Scars: These are deep, narrow scars that extend into the dermis, resembling the marks left by an ice pick.
2. Boxcar Scars: These are broad, box-like depressions with sharply defined edges. They can be shallow or deep and are often found on the cheeks and temples.
3. Rolling Scars: These scars cause a wave-like appearance on the skin, resulting from bands of scar tissue that form under the skin's surface.
