2. Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: Indian

3. Selection Process
The selection process includes:
Written Examination:
Paper 1: General Ability and Intelligence (objective type) - 250 marks.
Paper 2: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (descriptive type) - 200 marks.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Includes activities like running, long jump, and shot put.
Interview/Personality Test: 150 marks.
Medical Examination: Candidates must clear a medical test to ensure fitness.
4. Exam Pattern
Paper 1 (General Ability and Intelligence): This consists of multiple-choice questions covering General Studies, General Science, Current Events, Indian Polity & Economy, History of India, Geography, etc.
Paper 2 (General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension): This paper consists of essay writing (in English or Hindi) and reading comprehension, précis writing, and other language skills in English.
5. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The PET includes the following tests:
100 meters race: Men (16 sec), Women (18 sec)
800 meters race: Men (3 min 45 sec), Women (4 min 45 sec)
Long jump: Men (3.5 meters in 3 attempts), Women (3 meters in 3 attempts)
Shot put (7.26 kgs): Men (4.5 meters)

Successful candidates undergo rigorous training at their respective academies, where they are trained in various physical, academic, and leadership skills.
7. Roles and Responsibilities of Assistant Commandants
Assistant Commandants are directly involved in maintaining internal security, law and order, and border management, depending on the force they join. They lead a company of around 150 soldiers and are responsible for ensuring discipline, managing operations, and coordinating during various tasks like disaster management, counter-insurgency operations, and border patrolling.
8. Salary and Career Growth
Pay Scale: The pay scale for Assistant Commandants is ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 (Pay Level 10), with allowances such as DA, HRA, and others.
Career Growth: Assistant Commandants can be promoted to the rank of Deputy Commandant, Commandant, and further up to Director General based on performance and experience.
9. Important Dates
The CAPF AC exam is usually conducted once a year, and the notification is released around April. The exam is held in August, and results are declared towards the end of the year.
