The gentleman who made it was the same one selling it. He seemed as if it wasn't good enough, but it is amazing. They were moving and they decided not to take it with them. I love this chest! One of a kind, made by hand, all wood and just crying out for a little TLC and an upcycle. Adding legs and painting it would give it a new life and time to find a new home. If I had another bedroom for it I would keep it as an end of the bed bench / storage space. Paint is a custom blend of several colors of Dixie Belle Paint. Then I added a few other colors with Dixie Belle Paint's Clear Wax in mason jars and mixed them up. This way I had 4 custom colors of wax that I applied in specific places on the chest. Then I added paint to clear glaze and made a custom glaze that I applied over the entire piece. I added another layer of dark glaze by Dixie Belle Paint and then I tinted some Dixie Belle Paint's Clear Coat in Glossy. Applied over the entire piece in 3 thin layers using an application pad. We found some legs on a curb side couch and we attached those to the chest to lift it up and make it a more versatile piece than it simply sitting flat on the floor. Now it can be a coffee table too.
