Hey everyone! Today's the day and my Sony FX9 is finally here!
It was a tough choice and a stellar field of options, from the Canon C500 MK II to the MAVI Edge that's coming soon, of course a number of RED and ARRI options among others. It came down to feature set and usability in the field, along with optimal workflow utilization. The FX9 fits the bill quite nicely and is touted as being able to deliver 15+ stops of dynamic range!
It features a 6K Exmor R full-frame sensor that can record DCI or standard UHD resolutions in an oversampled 4K image. You also get the ability to shoot 4K in super 35 mm to pair with almost any S35 lens on the market!
V2.0 firmware arriving in October will unlock a host of new features. There's also a roadmap of future firmware updates that will be constantly updated. Nevertheless, I'm excited to start working with this powerhouse. There's really no looking back once you've taken advantage of the built-in variable ND system, and an autofocus system that Sony states this is one of the best in their lineup!
This is just a quick unboxing of the camera and contents. I also opted for the Atomos Shogun 7 for monitoring. I Hope you enjoy and don't forget to drop a comment and a like if you dig the content!
