As Mike explains, IR LEDs are typically used for infrared night vision by emitting invisible infrared light, enabling the camera to see in low-light and zero-light conditions. On the other hand, white LEDs cast visible light, providing illumination. The Viewtron IP cameras now incorporate both types of LEDs, specifically integrated with AI software. This combination allows for three distinct operational modes: IR night vision mode, white light LED mode, and a hybrid mode.
In the IR night vision mode, the camera functions like traditional IP cameras, switching to infrared as the surrounding light diminishes. The white light LED mode acts as an alarm light, activating visible illumination when an object is detected in an intrusion zone or when a virtual tripwire is crossed. The hybrid mode combines the best of both worlds. The camera stays in IR night vision mode until an object is detected, at which point the white LED activates, switching the camera to color mode and providing visible illumination.
Mike demonstrates the functionality by logging into the Viewtron NVR and configuring the IP-B8 4K resolution camera. He guides viewers through setting up the illumination modes and creating intrusion zones for human detection. The demo footage shows how the camera switches between modes seamlessly, providing clear recorded video in both infrared and color.
He also provides valuable insights into the additional features being rolled out in the new generation of Viewtron cameras. These include built-in audio surveillance microphones in bullet cameras and varying levels of AI software in different models.
