Watch the shocking moment two gym-goers discovered Apple AirTags hidden on their cars, leading Key West detectives straight to a 52-year-old family man who claimed it was all just a "joke."
On November 8, 2024, two women in Key West contacted police after receiving iPhone notifications that unknown AirTags were tracking their movements. They discovered the devices duct-taped and magnetized to the undersides of their vehicles. Investigating alongside Homeland Security, detectives traced the AirTags to 52-year-old gym acquaintance, Luis. During a private interrogation in a police cruiser—conducted away from his unaware wife and son—Luis admitted to planting the devices. He insisted it was a "joke" meant to "confuse" the women by making the tags beep while they were driving. Despite his claims of innocent intent, Luis was arrested and charged with two felony counts of installing tracking devices. He was released on a $70,000 bond and faces up to 15 years in prison.
