This is the beautiful Kasavu Mundu and Saree of Kerala. These exquisite garments, a pride of every Malayali, are crafted with real gold threads and an immense amount of effort.
The process:
Cotton Threads Preparation: The journey begins with dipping cotton threads in rice starch.
Softening the Threads: Each day, these threads are kneaded by foot to make them soft and pliable.
Brushing: The softened threads are then brushed by hand using coconut brushes.
Weaving: It takes a skilled artisan five days to weave a single saree.
Gold Thread Border: The saree's border is crafted with real gold threads, adding a touch of luxury.
Final Touch: After the meticulous weaving, the Kasavu Mundu and Saree are ready to shine.
