Learn how to find the midpoint of a line segment using the midpoint formula or the transformation of translations.

If given the coordinates of the end points of a line segment, they can be substituted into the midpoint formula from coordinate geometry to find the point divisor of the line with 1:1 ratio.

The midpoint can also be found by using the geometric transformation of a translation. The operation of the translation from one endpoint to the other endpoint is found. As the midpoint divides a line segment into a 1:1 ratio. The operation of the translation can be halved. This new translation operation when applied will yield the midpoint of the line segment.

This module covers the Leaving Certificate ordinary level LCOL maths course. If you require higher level maths LCHL then check out my course on Coordinate geometry of the line on Udemy.

Coordinate geometry is also known as Cartesian Maths and Analytical Geometry.
