Dear Bayram, the owner of the Şahin car, @bayramvek :) Dear Rhino Family, today we will first take a detailed look at a #Tofaş with a modified #bmw engine, a car we can't find easily, and then we will have a car race with my BMW 320i. I was initially very excited to see this engine-swapped Şahin, which is perhaps a step beyond the turbo Doğan, #DoğanSLX, Şahin, and Şahin S, which we can easily count among the interesting #modification projects. Racing with a BMW 320i only added to our excitement! So, I had dozens of questions about this fast Tofaş: how does it run, how long did it take to build, how much did it cost, and will it beat me? :)
After this video, I couldn't help but look at a Doğan SLX for sale, a modified Şahin, a modified Tofaş, or something, like, I don't know, a Murat 131, on sahibinden.com :)) So, I'm actually a little curious about a Tofaş project like this :) Anyway, let's put that aside for now and get back to our video.
I think you'll have a lot of fun with the BMW 320i vs. Tofaş Şahin race, and that's the part you're most curious about. I don't know, am I right? We'll definitely see after the video :)
My impressions of the modified Şahin are that it truly drives like it's flying. I think the chassis's lightness plays a significant role in this performance. Furthermore, the brakes need serious improvements, as it accelerates very well, but since Tofaş engineers didn't plan for such acceleration, they designed a braking system that couldn't handle this modification. Therefore, it seems the brakes need a good treatment to prevent the car from becoming dangerous :) The limited-slip differential was a bit of a concern for me, as the welding involved and the noises it makes when trying to turn on the road are a bit concerning, to be honest. But from what I've learned, this is a common practice in bird-like cars like Tofaş, Şahin, and falcons, and it doesn't cause much trouble.
