Trackmaster Shooting Star Streamlined Gordon Unboxing review & first run!
Hi Guys and Gals here we have the 2016 Trackmaster Shooting Star Gordon or Streamlined Gordon from the Thomas & Friends special called "The Great Race".
I have been looking for this wave of trains for months and months here in Australia and they finally turned up in my local area well not Flying Scotsman which is the one I wanted most of all but this Gordon is a close second!
I wont lie and tell you I know the reason for the streamlining as I haven't seen the special yet but it's an interesting change that's for sure. Lots of detail and sturdy quality this one is a great runner too and I recommend it even if you plan to customize it it's a good deal. The face could be used to make a grumpy Gordon custom which is always a bonus.
The truck has an animated flag waving action that I couldn't get to work well on my track so it can stay in the siding.
Gordon performed well enough but they have left me very little space over the drive wheels to try and add weights, I could dremel out all the webbing but that's for another day. he struggled for grip in some places but I put it down to the heavy coaches and the lack of weight over the drive wheels, I could also file the activation tab down a little more.
I give this Shooting star Gordon an 8/10
I'm sick of having to modify them all to run on the older track, I have yet to see a set that uses such a low hanging activation/locking tab so it's basically a cop out so you have to change to the new track...
