The world's largest island is all about definition: the challenge is Australia VS Greenland
In this episode of the “Earth Records” series, we discuss the world's largest island-a “problematic” record that is not easy to establish. On the one hand is Australia, the largest island-continent ever, and on the other hand is Greenland, the largest island on Earth, located between the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, with an area of 2 million square kilometers, about seven times the size of Italy. To understand which of the two takes first place, we need to investigate more about the geographical definition of “island” and the difference with the concept of “continent.”
