EASY GUIDE: ALL Sunken Ship Puzzles and Cellar Password in Super Mario RPG?
In this video I'll show you how to complete every single puzzle in the Sunken Ship in Super Mario RPG, so you can unveil all the clues for the password for the cellar which is "PEARLS".
The Sunken Ship is probably the heaviest puzzle roadblock in Super Mario RPG because it asks you to guess a password to go through the cellar door and advance in the story. 6 hints can be found in the sunken ship by completing 5 puzzles and one more that a shop clerk gives you. If you don't want to know how to solve each puzzle and just want the answer, please skip to the time on screen.
The first hint is in a room with a paratroopa and a cannon ball on top of a tower. The Paratroopa mimics Mario's movements, so the only thing you need to do is move in such a way that you can make the paratroopa bump into the cannonball to knock it off the pillar and activate the button.
The second hit is hidden in a room with 3 switches and moving springs. Punch the blocks to stop the springs in the correct position to allow the cannonball to bounce until it smashes the green button.
Third room is a 3D-Maze, probably the most obnoxious of all. It's easier to show you the path with my controller. I'll just recommend, to move your character in one direction at a time so you get a better understanding of your surroundings. Remember you can see the level you're in by pressing the menu button.
The fourth hint is given to you by speaking to the mage in the passage between the two hallways. No big problem here.
The fourth room puzzle is the easiest. Just follow the trail of the coin and pick all the ones that appear.
Finally, the fifth room is another box-smashing puzzle where you need to hit the cannonballs that are fired to hit the next floating box until you get the hint.
Now, let's go over all the clues:
-There is an "S" in the word
It is found on the bed of the ocean
It has two vowels
It has something to do with the sea
It is very valuable
"It" is actually a "they"
Doing some mental gymnastics, the password for the cellar in the Sunken Ship is actually the word "PEARLS". Enter that in the floating boxes, then talk through the speaker and the path forward should be clear.
