How to Install Heroic Games Launcher on Steam Deck (EGS, GOG)? Fixing the Visual C++ Error
How to easily install the Heroic Game Launcher, a program that will allow you to conveniently use the Epic Game Store and GOG libraries on Steam Deck.

I wasn't a fan of it at first, but I see it's working better and better, and I'm enjoying using it myself. The driving force behind this episode is the new Kao Kangaroo, available for free on Epic, which has a significant problem with Visual C++ libraries, and I'll also demonstrate the process of fixing this bug.
We're starting in Desktop mode, and for convenience, you'll need a keyboard and mouse or the Steam Link program. A guide on how to use it can be found in the video description.
In Discover, search for Heroic, download it, install it, and then launch it. The program prompts you to log in to Epic and Google right away – simply enter your details and verify your identity if you have double authentication enabled. If you don't have it enabled, be sure to enable it, as it significantly increases the security of your online accounts.
At the top, you can change the language to Polish; I forgot, so I changed it in the settings.
After logging in, your game library will appear. Select the title you're interested in and install it. You can also choose the installation path; I chose a microSD card.
Many games will work without issue, but not all. There's no silver bullet solution, and you'll need to find a solution for each problematic title individually. Of course, games like Fortnite or Genshin Impact won't work due to anti-cheat protection.
Getting back to the topic – when you try to launch the game, you get an error indicating that Microsoft Visual C++ libraries are missing. Download them from the internet, and then I recommend moving them to your desktop. Download link: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redis...
Return to Heroic and click on the game cover, then go to the game settings menu. Scroll down and check the "Run EXE in Prefix" field. Now you can simply point to the location of the previously downloaded Visual C++ or drag the program directly into this field. After a moment, the installer window will pop up. Accept the license agreement and select Install. Once the process is complete, click Close. To add the game to Steam as a separate application, simply click the three-dot icon and select Add to Steam. After restarting Steam Deck, you'll find the game in your library in the non-Steam game directory.
