Groovin' on the DR-110 🎸
The early 80's brought us classic drum machines from Roland like the TR-808, CR-8000, TR-606 and TR-909. Another drum machine released by Roland in this time was the DR-110. While overshadowed by the other machines just mentioned, this little affordable machine still packs a serious punch and definitely holds its own!
Another interesting fact is that the DR-110 was the first Roland drum machine with a graphic display. It wasn't until a year later that the TR-707 was released.
In this video, the DR-110 is being run through an Empress Echosystem in Echoplex mode. The saturation and modulation are both turned up, giving the delay a crunchy, warm and spacey tone.
The main DR-110 output is being recorded cleanly, while the phones output is sent to the Echosystem, allowing the dry and wet signals to be recorded on their own tracks 😎
