Urban Stitching - test piece for a brand new project idea!
A sneak preview of a new idea I've been testing. I am working on a continuous, linear piece of textile artwork, created in the streets, hand-stitching while I'm walking a spiral route. I've been making one stitch per step, recording interactions with the people I meet, plus adding different elements to record the nature of my surroundings and the weather conditions, as I move through them. Every 25 steps, a found object is stitched into the work, to add to the story of place. I've so far made 2 metres of work.
