Some parts of Texas are dark enough for Milky way viewing. This was a bortles 4 scale, the smaller the bortles number the better. Big Bend National Park in Texas is the best, with a bortles 1 or less.
I still like to practice in some other parts of Texas, before going to the Big Bend area for the best dark skies.
This shoot was practice only.
Working with cameras, filters, tripods and tracking devices to get the most and best possible images. And, it's the experience of getting out in the night in secluded quiet places and just enjoying the beauty of the stars that matters.
