27 Rue De Fleurus was the the home of Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas. From 1905 to 1938 they hosted weekly gatherings where the European Avant Garde flourished. Notable attendees include Ernst Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse.
The apartment facilitated an environment for young creatives to develop ideas in the company of like minded collaborators.
