Peko Hosoi: Bio-inspired Filtration: Fundamental Fluid Mechanics of the Manta Ray
As part of the 2024 Edward L. Reiss Memorial Lectures, MIT’s Anette “Peko” Hosoi examined two toy problems that mimic various features of the filtration strategies employed by manta rays, finding that experimental data from wavy channels are consistent with asymptotic predictions.
