Makhachev (28-1) showcased vintage pressure: relentless takedowns, airtight top control, and nonstop submission setups. Even when the fight stayed standing, he shut down Della Maddalena’s striking and dictated every exchange. It was complete control for 25 straight minutes.
With this victory, Makhachev becomes the 11th simultaneous two-division UFC champion — and ties Anderson Silva’s legendary 16-fight UFC win streak, further bolstering his claim as one of the greatest to ever compete inside the Octagon.
“This was my dream my whole life,” Makhachev said afterward. “No weight cut. Five rounds easy. I made it look simple.”
For Della Maddalena, the night was all frustration. Entering with an eight-fight UFC win streak and making his first title defense, he simply couldn’t create space or find answers to Makhachev’s suffocating pace.
When asked what’s next, Makhachev didn’t name an opponent — but he did hint at a massive moment on the horizon:
“Open the White House — I’m coming,” he declared, pointing toward a potential historic UFC event in Washington D.C.
