At the end of 2014, young professionals in nuclear energy started an initiative called Nuclear4Climate. They were preparing for COP21 in Paris and were motivated by research that indicated the public believed that nuclear was a source of greenhouse gases and a significant cause of climate change.
Eileen Langegger, currently the President of the Austrian Nuclear Society, gave a talk about lessons learned so far from Nuclear4Climate at the IAEA conference on climate change and the role of nuclear energy.
Fascinating to hear how the initiative designers realized that they should copy tactics from the successful antinuclear movement.
