BLOGGING PROS AND CONS

PROS OF BLOGGING

1.) Very Inexpensive to Get Up & Running (0:55)

Almost anyone can start a blog because it is so inexpensive to get up and running. That's why online businesses in general are so appealing to begin with, because the startup costs are so minimal. Down the road if your blog starts making money, you can always invest in better tools, plugins, design features etc, but this is definitely not necessary when just starting out.

2.) Flexibility To Work from Anywhere (1:31)

Having the freedom to work wherever you want to as a blogger is an amazing benefit. You are not restricted to an office or cubicle and can truly work wherever you are most comfortable. This location freedom can be incredibly liberating and is a big benefit of bloggers who do this full-time (or even part-time).

3.) Asset that Works For You 24/7 (2:05)

Since a blog is always "on" and available for the world to see, it truly is an asset that works for you 24/7, 365 days per week. Once you hit publish on a blog post, it is live forever. If you're properly optimizing your website with SEO best practices in mind, you can be generating targeted organic traffic, leads and sales to your website while you sleep, eat, exercise, anything!

4.) Can Work Into a Busy Schedule (3:18)

We are all busy and getting busier in our day to day lives which makes blogging the perfect business model for many. Not only can you work on your blog part-time to start, but you can also gain really good momentum only working on your side hustle 1-2 hours per day (or by giving it your all on weekends). As long as you stick with this for the long-term, blogging is something you can work into a very busy schedule and still thrive.

5.) No Ceiling on Income You Can Earn (4:08)

With blogging you have global reach and numerous ways to monetize your website. This really puts no limits on the income you can earn from your blog. Disclaimer: Your income is entirely up to the effort and work you put in, not all results will be the same. With millions of people searching the web per day, the income opportunities are really endless.

6.) Positions Yourself as an Authority (5:35)

A blog is a very underrated way to position yourself as an authority in your niche and get your name and brand out there. It's an additional way to build up a following and generate more awareness about any products or services you are promoting. You can also connect with other bloggers, write guest content and reach new audiences through your blog to build an overall stronger brand.

CONS OF BLOGGING

1.) Growing Competition (7:06)

There are tons and tons of new blogs created every single day competing for the same target audience as you are (no matter the niche). This is why it's crucial that you stand out from the crowd and position yourself differently than your competition. Unfortunately, we cannot help that the competition will only get fiercer and stronger each and every day. But this shouldn't stop you from moving forward and creating a creative angle for your own website.

2.) Takes Time to Gain Traction (8:14)

A blog does indeed take some time to gain traction and build momentum. It is by no means an overnight process and will take consistent effort in order to see results. You need to create a lot of quality content over a long period of time to start generating momentum. This means you also have to be very patient. Blogging is truly a marathon and not a sprint!

3.) Requires Hard Work & Strong Commitment (8:50)

I wish I could tell you that blogging is easy but it isn't. There's a lot of different variables that go into a successful blog and it takes hard work over a prolonged period of time to start generating consistent traffic, day in and day out. You really need to have a strong commitment to your blog to keep things moving in the right direction.

4.) Requires Some Technical Knowledge (9:47)

Blogging does take some technical knowledge as well in order to build it and maintain it moving forward. Thankfully if you use WordPress, they make it really easy to run a website. However, some technical aspects to consider are styling/designing your blog the way you want it, installing proper plugins, editing your widgets, adding photos, proper SEO tagging etc.
