DO you draw regularly or have you got out of the habit? Do you love the idea of a regular drawing practice but never quite manage it? Do you struggle with what to draw and perhaps overthink it?
In this video I share a demonstration of me going out on location and drawing. Not with an end in mind. Not because I am using it for a project or am going to reconfigure it when I get back to the studio! But just because drawing is a great way of noticing what you notice; of connecting with a. subject. Of remembering....Of recording your world...Of calming the mind.
Recently I have become frustrated by not having a regular drawing practice outside of my work in series. So this video is a start of me getting back to a regular drawing and mark making practice. I am not sure where it is heading (and I don't need to). Perhaps I will have a sketchbook that becomes a chronology of these drawings. Perhaps some of them will become inspiration for studio work. Time will tell. But the main thing is that they are a regular practice and that they are fun!
Next week I will be on the Boarders of Scotland for the Borders Art Fair where I have a stand. I am planning some sort of video so watch out for it on here. It may even be done as a live video.
