LED Acrylic Mirror Sign (18cm) - weekend project idea
Another laser cut LED sign project using the Arduino FastLed library and a strip of 79x WS2812 LED's.
This time i used a strong engrave setting on the laser cutter, etched in 2mm from both sides of a 4mm Acrylic plastic sheet.
The youtube logo was cut from 1mm acrylic mirror from local hardware store and epoxied in to place within the "engraved" section.
I also cut a circle of acrylic mirror to create a sort of infinity look but honestly it's quite fine without it.
79 WS2812 LED's was used to surround the main acrylic piece. A 3d printed black shroud to cover the LED strip.
The base is a 3d printed box containing an Arduino Mega 2560 (could be a Nano or even ATTiny, the 2560 is just what i had on hand at the time)
This was just a test to see what engraving from both sides would look like and also having an inset mirror logo.
The result is absolutely awesome. it could be refined a little further but it's quite a good looking piece.
