The Rangkasbitung Ultimate Station expansion project is underway with a target completion date of the end of 2025. This station will be one of the largest in Banten Province, capable of serving up to 30-40 thousand passengers per day, with a total capacity of 85 thousand passengers. Rangkasbitung Ultimate Station will be equipped with various modern facilities such as elevators, escalators, pedestrian bridges (JPO), and accessibility for people with disabilities. This station will also be integrated with the Sunan Kalijaga Terminal, making it easier for passengers to access onward transportation. Currently, the expansion project is entering the first switchover phase, which began in September 2024. This phase includes railway infrastructure work such as signaling systems, rail lines, and station service facilities. Service flow adjustments are also being made for Commuter Line users. Entry access is being shifted from the south to the north side of the station, and the Jabodetabek Commuter Line passenger boarding and alighting service is being moved from lines 1 and 2 to the new lines 5 and 7. Meanwhile, the Merak Commuter Line service was moved from line 3 to line 2. After the project is completed, the train arrival frequency (headway) will be reduced from 15 minutes to 6 minutes, speeding up service and increasing the station's capacity to 83 thousand passengers per day.
