Ceramco’s Furnaces – The firing of custom ceramic part can occur in one or two stages. Partial firing is referred to as bisque, brown, green body or semi-fired. Partial firing of a ceramic part permits further (less costly) machining and hand detailing.
Full density firing (sintering) transforms the custom ceramic part to its final size. A reduction of approximately 20%. Fully dense parts may still be further processed but require diamond impregnated tools.
The time required for a full density firing cycle is dependent upon numerous factors, including kiln type and may require up to 5 days. Ceramco’s rapid-fire furnaces can safely and reliably cut this time (depending upon the circumstances) to less than 12 hours.
