In general speed is defined as Distance/Time. Therefore commonly people think that speed depends on the distance and time. But it is a misconception. Actually speed depends on the distance as a function of time. We can calculate speed only when distance is given as a function of time. For different functional forms, speed at the same time is different. This fact has been explained by taking some simple examples.
