Unwelcome Audience
He had been practicing his comedy in the mirror for a quite a long while. The routine was pretty standard at this point. Its not clear but whatever entered the house was not expected nor was it welcome. The house was dark, the doors were shuttered, and there was no notion of anyone being inside. The man knew this, and anyone who happened to enter was unwelcome. All he could do was find the source of the noise, hoping against hope it was a mix of imagination and the old house simply settling. Of all the times to be so keenly aware of each floorboard and how loud they sound throughout the hollow house.
