Monte Cervati - The highest mountain in Campania! 🏔️🔝 (Salerno - Italy)
2g excursion on Monte Cervati, the highest mountain in Campania with its 1899mt.
We followed the Sentiero Italia (S03) along it in the opposite direction from Piaggine to the Cervati Refuge passing through the summit of Monte Cervati. We traveled about 17km, with a difference in altitude of 1300mt.
The detour to the summit is not included in the path of the Sentiero Italia but obviously it is a must!
Climbing the signs and the gpx track did not always match, we followed the track and at the end, except in a point highlighted in the video, we walked the path without major problems.
We stayed and dined at the Cervati refuge, a truly exceptional welcome, I recommend you drop by.
The next day we got off in the car, following a dirt road. The mountain is full of other trails and interesting points to visit.
We will definitely be back!
As regards the "dispute" regarding the highest point in Campania, based on the institutional cadastral data in force and international regulations, it is clear that:
THE HIGHEST "TOP" OF CAMPANIA IS:
MONTE CERVATI 1899 METERS
1365 METERS PROMINENCE - being more than 30 meters of prominence it can be identified as Cima. Having more than 300 meters of prominence it can also be identified as a Mountain.
THE HIGHEST "POINT" IN CAMPANIA IS:
PUNTA GIULIA 1917 METERS
10 METERS PROMINENCE - being less than 30 meters, it cannot be identified as Cima
