What are Power Platform Environment Groups?
This video gives you a basic introduction to the Environment Group feature available within the Microsoft Power Platform Environment.
Environment Group characteristics:
✔️ Provides a structure for the environments in your tenant
✔️ Useful for enterprise IT teams
✔️ Solves the problem of having scaled environments (from 100 to 1000’s)
✔️ Structures can be set as per:
Project
Location
Department
Business Unit
Geography
Personal Productivity
✔️Admins can apply rules to the Environment groups
✔️Bulk Management of rules are made easy by utilising Environment Groups
✔️Helps in maintaining legal, compliance and regulatory requirements
✔️Brings consistency and standardization while managing environments at scale
✔️Helps setup consistency while using default environment routing functionality
✔️Rules are based on Managed Environments feature set
✔️Currently there are 6 rules (will grow in the coming years)
✔️Environment can belong to only one Environment group (1:1)
✔️Environment group houses only managed environment
✔️Environment Group can host Developer, Sandbox, Production environment
✔️When an environment is removed from environment group, it retains its configuration
