Tree Giving event at Larnaka Airport
More than 2,000 plants were given to the public as part of Hermes Airports’ ‘Green Lemonade’ project - 12 October 2024.
This initiative is a continuation of the “Green Lemonade” project, launched by Hermes Airports in 2022 in collaboration with KEAN. As part of this initiative, each year we collect the lemons from the 120 lemon trees at the airport’s outdoor areas. The lemons are delivered to KEAN factory in Limassol, where homemade lemonade without preservatives is produced. The lemonade was originally sold to passengers and the airport community, with proceeds used for environmental initiatives, including the donation of an educational drone for fire monitoring in collaboration with the Cyprus Institute, which was donated to the Cyprus Forestry Department.
This year, Hermes Airports and KEAN joined forces with Foody, which is selling the homemade lemon-ades (concentrated lemonade squash or ready-to-drink, 330ml) on its platform Foody Market. Pro-ceeds from this year's sales will also go toward offering plants to the public.
