Overkill x Puma Ocean Drive - from Miami to Berlin
Once again Overkill and Puma have teamed up to release a pack of two sneakers inspired by Miami Vice - the Slipstream Lo and the Blaze of Glory "Ocean Drive" releasing on September 18th.
Neon lights, palm trees, and crime - the two cops Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs and their investigations in the crime scene of South Florida have left their mark on us and the Eighties. The US series Miami Vice and its protagonists were groundbreaking and style-setting in many ways. Hard cuts and fast sequences of images, combined with slow-motion shots and lighting that reflected Miami's nightlife, made this series look like a music clip. It was a style of production that had not been seen before and inspired many series that followed. Plus the cool style that runs through all the episodes: Loafers without socks, blazers over T-shirts, everything in pastel shades. A look that left an impression on a whole generation.
We at Team Overkill are and always have been fans of this aesthetic - which is why our latest Puma collab is a tribute to what we consider the biggest and most defining pop culture phenomenon of the 80s. At least as different and at the same time as cool as Crockett and Tubbs: the Slipstream Lo and the Blaze Of Glory. Iconic elements of the style can be found in both designs of the "Ocean Drive" pack
On 18 September 2022, the release of the Overkill x Puma Ocean Drive Pack will take place exclusively at Haubentaucher, Revaler Str. 99, 10245 Berlin from 3 pm and online at overkillshop.com from 10 pm. The release-event will provide sounds from the eighties. The dress code: Miami Vice – of course. Sunglasses and linen jackets out. And for a little inspiration, we recommend watching a few episodes with Crockett and Tubbs.
