Funky Drum Kit Playing..
A short clip of some swung 16th note triplet style drum grooves and ideas..over a bass and keys vamp!
I particularly enjoy playing these types of feels. I think it's important to work on developing a good Jazz ride feel and shuffle feel first. Playing along with some jazz and blues records can be a big help!
Jeff Pacaro mentions this in his video! And then you can start adding a back beat and experimenting with various bass drum patterns. I really like how theses grooves can feel, sound spacious and flow.
You'll typically hear these ideas in Pop, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Rock and Jazz Fusion music.
For inspiration, I listen to drummers such as Jeff Pacaro. Keith Carlock, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd-who are all masters at this!
