I haven't published new theories or analyses about Half-Life in a while. Time to fix that – 40 minutes of pure content, where I try to figure out what exactly a Vortex is. How are the game's main characters – G-Man, Gordon Freeman, Alyx, Eli, Magnusson, the Vortigaunts, the Nihilanth, and the Combine itself – intertwined? I hope this deluge of information doesn't overwhelm you. Share your thoughts in the comments, because only together can the community solve this mystery. I hope you enjoyed this video and support it – I tried to keep repetition and fluff to a minimum. The topic is quite complex. Get it, right? Like, Vortex, vortex. Not funny? Fine.

And most importantly, remember: There is no distance between us.

Script excerpt (for tags):

There haven't been any new theories or analyses about Half-Life in a while. Everything that could be said about this game has already been said, and anything new is either a retelling of the old, or downright conspiracy theories. But I'll try to once again bring back the time for theories and speculation about the mysteries of this game's plot. I invite you to embark on another journey through the mysteries of the Half-Life universe, exploring one of its most fascinating concepts. Everyone's talked about it, but I haven't seen anyone dedicate an entire video to it. I'm talking about magic. There's a certain superpower in the Half-Life universe that's definitely worth exploring. In this video, we'll try to figure out what it is, where it comes from, and how it works. And believe me, it will reveal details that shocked me.

We'll try to rethink and analyze the concept of magic in Half-Life. What does it mean for us now? Some green substance used by Vortigaunts, J-men, and sometimes the Combine. But what distinguishes sci-fi from fantasy is that everything that happens has a reason. Nothing happens without a reason. Therefore, magic must also have a justification. Especially if we're talking about science fiction, which is what Half-Life once positioned itself as.

In the world of Half-Life, magic is a hidden energy. This energy permeates absolutely everything, the entire multiverse. According to Judith, each universe has its own laws of physics and its own peculiarities. But the worlds we know are united by a mysterious magic called Vort. At some point, there existed a race that dedicated themselves to studying this Vort essence. They became its conduit, taught how to use it, and passed it on to others. This is likely how the Vortigaunts were created—they are all connected by a hive mind, united by Vort links. They used this power for good: healing, self-knowledge, philosophy, and life. But there were those who began to use this power for evil: Vort magic allowed for truly unique things: telepathic communication, telekinesis, teleportation, healing, and much more. Thus began the great hunt for the Vort race across worlds. At some point, the Nihilanth decided to hide between worlds in Xena, and what happened next—we already know very well what happened.

We weren't witnesses to these events. I've simply constructed this timeline based on the available data. Half-Life's plot is worked out down to the last detail, and now these details are fragmented into tiny bits of information. Canon is non-canon, and now it's unclear what Valve plans to keep and what they'll rework beyond recognition, making theorizing more difficult than ever. But what I can try to do is figure out what the Worth is.
