What else is famous in Chhattisgarh?🤔

Dhokra is a traditional handicraft from Bastar in Chhattisgarh. It is considered ancient and has been practised for nearly 4000 years.
The tribes of Bastar, also known as the "tribal heartland" of India, create Dhokra items using clay, wax, and metal.

How is it created?
First, they shape clay into the desired form and cover it with wax and more clay.
After that, the entire structure is heated to melt the wax.
Then, molten metal is poured into the mold.
After cooling, they break the clay mold to reveal the Dhokra statue.

It typically takes one week to complete one Dhokra item.
Dhokra artisans use brass, nickel, and zinc, which gives Dhokra its characteristic golden hue.
Artistic motifs include tribal designs, local deities, and native wildlife from the Bastar region.

Despite challenges such as Naxalite conflicts in Bastar, Dhokra continues to thrive, providing livelihoods to many tribal families.
