Paddle Board Puerto Rico
In February, we packed the inflatable paddle boards and flew to Puerto Rico chasing warmth, light, and good vibes.
Puerto Rico is an inviting Caribbean island where the hospitable people have good cheer.
We explored the west side of the island mostly, looking for paddling destinations with waterfalls and snorkeling opportunities.
The south-western area includes the sandy beaches of Cabo Rojo and the cayes of La Parguera where we spent most of the time on the water. The bioluminescent bay east of La Paraguera made for a magical evening, especially after the tour boats left us to ourselves.
Cascadia Gozalandia is featured in every tourist guidebook for the island. We were able to hike boards into the falls after the crowds had left, giving us a special moment of tranquility to paddle in paradise.
We brought the Hala Straight Up and Hala Playa All-Water paddle boards, which fit nicely in their rolling travel bags. All our gear fit in the bags including Astral AirBelt PFDs and Saywer travel paddles.
Bringing our own boards, we were not limited to expensive rentals exclusive to populated resort areas. Honestly, only in Rincon did we see any paddle board offerings. So, having our own was key.
