TOMY Plarail Neville with Tamiya motor mod (Hyper dash 2) and BR decals
Hi Guys and Gals a very quick video today to show you how easily I get sidetracked on projects haha. This Engine Neville is running excellently and its the result of swapping the rubbish 50 cent standard motor with one that costs $5. These "Dangun" motors are mostly a straight swap!
Neville is all standard except for the new motor and he still runs on 1.5v single AA battery. This motor is very efficient and runtime is about normal even with the increase in power and speed. I ran him for quite a while today and he is performing like a champion so I am very happy with this mod and have other engines in mind to modify such as Murdoch and Spencer.
This was the trickiest motor I have had to fit so far as it was soldered in a strange way in these flat type drive units but its definitely do-able even for someone like me. The big 4 engines (original type) are the easiest to do though.
There is a short guide on ToysTrainsThings' channel which I must say makes it look very easy but that is just the skill that he demonstrates to fit these motors quickly!
