The great mysteries of World War II -
When the Japanese were retreating in February 1945, they suffered a rather reprehensible attack by the British army and left the designated area, entering a saltwater mangrove swamp teeming with crocodiles. The mere 20 men who remained from the initial offensive perished.
Why does the Guinness Book of World Records list a thousand deaths during this event? Did they want to whitewash their history?
USS Indianapolis, June 1945. It was a Portland-class heavy cruiser belonging to the United States Navy, transporting parts of an atomic bomb when enemy torpedoes, fired by the Japanese, sank the ship. All the soldiers on board died. What actually happened is that 90% succumbed to the bites of the sharks that inhabited those waters.
Ksiaz Castle and Nazi Gold. As World War II drew to a close and the Germans were fleeing Stalin's Red Army, a train, some 200 meters long and loaded with gold, jewels, and works of art, is said to have left the station in Wrocław, Breslau, bound for Walbrzych. But it never reached its destination. It vanished. This castle is the largest fortress in Silesia and stands proudly atop a steep mountain, deep in the forest. The Hoberg family began creating a network of tunnels beneath the castle and the Sudetes mountain range, which drained the coffers of the regime and destroyed all the concrete in the country. The location of this train was confirmed not long ago by ground-penetrating radar. From then on, speculation and rumors ran rampant.
Has this train, laden with gold, been hidden there for decades? Could it be filled with Jewish corpses? Why don't they open up the mountain?
