To use the EuroNCAP test protocol to rate Autonomous Emergency Braking systems, each run needs to be performed at a set speed with the vehicle not deviating outside of a ten-centimetre lateral range until the AEB system activates.
Steering robots are now being used to achieve this exact level of accuracy, with manufacturers preferring to use them to eliminate human errors and ensure precision and test repeatability.
